Ship Hotel Vat (Hove)

In 1914 the original building built in 1702 was demolished and a new pub erected but set further back when Hove Street was widened. Hove Council paid the West Street Brewery £4,500 to cover the cost of demolition and rebuilding.

Blower Benjamin Cowley was landlord by 1925 and he remained there until after the end of the Second World War.

In 1999 the Ship Hotel became part of the Golden Lion Group. By December 2004 the Ship was under new management and the name was changed to Le Bourdeaux.

Today, the Gingerman Restaurant Group owns the premises and the pub is now known as The Ginger Pig. The Ginger Pig is a friendly and stylish pub restaurant where fine modern British cuisine is served. It has a Michelin Bib Gourmand award indicating it is one of the inspectors’ favourite establishments, offering high-quality products and services while giving good value for the money. A Times review has said it is one of the top 10 places to eat game in the UK!
